2D Avatars are best used when in "Custom" Dock Mode. The resolution at Custom Dock Mode for the display window is exactly 760 x 520 ( Width x height ). And its great you are creating a 2D Avatar. I will try to reproduce the error. I think I am aware of this. For the meantime just disable the program stability service from Engine Settings.

As far as I know if you use Tools ( available in settings panel ) you can just select the package and install it. Once installed just turn it On. Then restart and go to your Speech Settings and see if the "Current Speech Engine" is set to Online Speech. If thats the case the installation was proper....
